Ocean Youth Aotearoa Presentation

2024 – 2025

Overview

I presented at Ocean Youth Aotearoa to share practical youth perspectives on marine reserve advocacy and ocean literacy. The talks focused on making conservation understandable, relevant, and empowering for young audiences. Returning as a presenter in a second year showed growth in both confidence and clarity.

My role

Researcher, slide designer, and lead presenter.

Impact

Contributed youth voice to national ocean conversations and inspired peers to take local conservation action.

Field notes

My first presentation explored why marine reserves matter and where stronger protection is still needed. I combined local examples with simple explanations that made policy and science easier to understand.

In the following year, I presented again with a focus on creative conservation tools, including my Seaslugs & Seaweed concept. Building both presentations taught me how to turn research into storytelling that motivates action.
